Colorado Sunrise

My children are early risers—so much so that we often see the sunrise. Emma always looks out first thing in the morning and will often wake me with, "Mommy, you gotta see the sunrise today!" I love her enthusiasm and that at 6-years-old she is in tune with God's marvelous creation.

Party Recap

I had an awesome birthday party at my favorite mexican restaurant ~ Salsa Brava! Both sides of our immediate families came, so we were 25 strong! Here are a few of my favorite snapshots from the evening. (You can see more on Facebook.)

My biggest blessings!

Ready to party, y'all!

Still a little girl

I was reminded this morning that, even though she is growing up so fast, Emma is still a little girl ~ and I love that. She was so excited to have me volunteer in her class today! While I was there she hugged me several times, held my hand a couple times and gave me a kiss! I couldn't help but wonder how long this would last. That when her friends whispered "cool" to her response of "this is my mom", how long would she also think so?! It was a fun morning and I am reminded once again to cherish these times with my children while they are young.

Emma's Snow Day Race

We had a rare early snow yesterday...in September! It caught us all by surprise but the race must go on. Emma ran the half mile and did great. We all bundled up and cheered her on. I was laughing because I squeezed Nate into his bunting that was size 3 months! It was all I had since I was not ready for snow, but I don't think he minded. He stayed nice and cozy.

Catching Up with Emma and Nate

Nate enjoying some fresh carrot/celery/apple juice with Daddy! YUM!

Nate so proud that he ate all his pears and wanting more!

Instead of the tooth-fairy, "Mommy-fairy" made a scavenger hunt for Emma to find a dollar for the second tooth she lost. She had to read clues that took her all over the house till she found the prize! Emma loved it!

Emma and Nate enjoying cookies on the backporch. I wonder if Nate is thinking, "Why doesn't my cookie look like that?"

Labor Day Weekend FUN!

We had family and friends over for a BBQ on Labor Day weekend...complete with water balloon launching and a squirt gun fight!

The next day we went to the mountains for some off-road fun with my in-laws.

On the way home we stopped at Great Grandma Gladys's house and picked Italian plums! YUMMY! I love how Nate helped himself to a snack.

We also went to the state fair and had movie night at home. It was one of the busiest weekends we've had in a long time, but it was so worth all the fun times we experienced.

So much to say...so little time!

We are finally getting into a groove with our new routine this school year. Emma is back in piano lessons and cross country practice; Nate is getting two good naps a day plus lots of play time with Mommy; Mommy is back in Bible study and finding time to read some good books; Daddy is working his usual schedule but making plenty of time for family activities with hunting season lurking before us. Life is good.

I hope to find more time for blogging this fall, and what better inspiration than a new look?!

Picture Day

Today is picture day at school for Emma, and I just happened to get her the cutest little outfit yesterday on clearance! Don't you just love a good buy?! Anyway, I thought this outfit was so cute that I wanted to go ahead and share it.
