There's a new girl in town!

My sister-in-law, Bonnie, had her baby!

Bonnie Islay (eye-la) was born on May 30, 2010...and we are SO excited to have more pink on the Wright's side (3 girls to 6 boys). Her name is Scottish, which means 'beautiful island." They will call her Islay.

Nate was so taken with Islay! He kept saying "baby" and wanted to touch her and get right in her face. I don't think he has ever seen a little person smaller than he is. It was fun! Emma had fun helping me pick out girly things; and like any good big sister, she did a great job of holding Islay.

Congratulations Paul and Bonnie and big brothers Jacob, Liam and Ewan!

New shiny necklace ~ A.K.A. ~ "My husband is so cool!"

Instead of getting me a new shiny necklace for having Nate, Tim got me a motorcycle! We went and test drive this one last night and fell in love with it, so Tim bought it for me. When I was still pregnant and we talked about getting me one, I would always jokingly say, "It will be a sign of my everlasting freedom from pregnancy—my liberation!" I had no idea how true that would be until I rode it last night. It was so much fun, and I felt like myself again for the first time in a very long time.

What makes it even cooler is that Tim and I now have matching motorcycles!

I can't wait to take it up in the mountains and ride the trails. My husband is so very cool!

More of Nate

These are some of my favorite pictures from the past few days.

Emma made a card for Nate and she couldn't wait to show it to him. It says, "I love my baby Nate. Love Emma."

Emma loves to fall asleep with Nate...and so does Daddy.

It's A Boy!

Nate James made his grand entrance into this world on Saturday, November 1 at 5:09 am. He was 8 lbs. 9 oz. (WOW) and 21 inches long. He is absolutely perfect in every way and we are all in love with this precious little boy. We're praising God for a healthy baby boy who came at the perfect time.

And yes, mom's nausea disappeared instantly when Nate was born! I have a ferocious appetite now. Thank you Jesus!!!

Still NO baby!

It looks like I get to see this one through to the bitter end...and yes it is bitter. I've decided to take a bloggy land vacation until baby comes, so the next time you hear from me I will be announcing either "It's a boy" or "It's a girl." So until then, so long beloved blog friends.

The logic of a desperate pregnant woman...

I know this can't go on forever but will it ever end?!

Pictures Galore

Here are some pics from our visits with my two brothers. The first is my older brother Scotty. He is in town till the end of the month, so we will get to see him more. The second is my younger brother Tomy and he was only here for the weekend with his girlfriend Mendy.

On Friday Emma had a field trip to the pumpkin patch. Her Daddy was a volunteer for the day and got some great pictures. Tim said Emma kept helping all the other kids with their pumpkins because they were so heavy. I love her helping spirit!

This is Emma's entire kindergarten class. There are 6 of them!

Boo at the Zoo ~ Our zoo is the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, which means its on the side of a mountain and there are lots of up and down trails to walk. I did this - 39 weeks pregnant - for two hours! Of course I hoped it would trigger something, oh, say a baby being born. Nevertheless it was fun seeing Emma and all her cousins dressed up and having a good time.

I don't have pictures of this but yesterday we went to a wedding reception. Every single person who talked to me said, "You look so uncomfortable," or "You look like you're in pain." Both are true. I continue to count the days.

Firsts and Lasts

Of course I will always remember the first time I held Emma in my arms, but this morning I woke up wishing I could remember the last time.

I heard her run upstairs (well before 6 am) to say goodbye to her Daddy as he left for work. As I heard their muffled voices (so as not to wake Mommy) I pictured Tim holding Emma with her arms tightly wrapped around his neck, and I felt a tinge of jealousy. When was the last time I held her? Will I ever be able to hold her again?

Life is full of firsts and lasts. If we knew about the lasts, would we cherish them more? Like the last time I rocked Emma to sleep? I do remember that one because it was during my pregnancy. Emma had gotten a stomach bug last spring and I rocked her as she drifted in and out of sleep in my arms. It is a precious memory to me...one I will always cherish. I don't know if there will be another one of those times, so I hang on to the memory of that one.

As we prepare for lots of firsts with our new baby, I am a little saddened by all the lasts that have passed with Emma. And yet I am reminded of all the firsts still to come with her ~ losing her first tooth, her first sleep over, her first car, her first day of high school.

Wouldn't it be awesome if we could live like so many of the daily things of life are lasts and somehow enjoy them more? And hold them dear instead of resenting them? Like wiping little handprints off the mirror...tripping over crayons and dolls...washing teeny little socks and underwear...finding cookie crumbs on the bed. I don't know how long I will be doing these things, but I hope they don't end any time soon. I'm not ready for them to be lasts.

For the record....

I AM SO SICK OF TELLING PEOPLE HOW SICK I AM.

I have been nauseous every day for the past 232 days. It is not going to change until I have this baby, which could be another 20 days or more. (Please Lord, don't let it be more!)

So until further notice, please note that I will be nauseous and not loving it. The grumpy mood; however, is subject to change at a moment's notice. :)

Blessed October ~ oh how I love thee ~

It's here!!!! Thank the Lord it is here!!!! My due month is here!!!!

In 25 days or less (hopefully not more), I will be a new woman! No more nausea. No more vomiting. No more rib pain. No more stretching ligaments. No more sleepless... Ok, well that won't change. But it will be for a much better reason!

Happy birthday to me...now let's move on.

Today I am 35. I am nauseous as ever. Emma is sick. None of us slept good last night so we are all exhausted.

But let's look at the bright side.......
~ Today I am one month from my due date!
~ Tim took me out to breakfast at one of my favorite restaurants.
~ My parents are coming over tonight and bringing one of my favorite dinners.

The real countdown begins today to baby Wright's arrival. I am praying I don't have to go another 4 weeks, so maybe this will all be over sooner than I think.

Nesting....What, am I a bird?!

Isn't that such a weird word...nesting? But I guess it's true. I finally feel the need to get some things ready for baby's arrival ~ whether I feel like it or not. (And I don't) At the very least I decided I needed to wash some clothes and blankets so baby would have something to wear on the big day.

I haven't bought a thing for this baby. I'm just too sick most days to even think about shopping. Thankfully I have a sweet mom who loves to buy baby things. She blessed us with all these wonderful clothes, blankets, washcloths, etc. So whether we have a boy or girl, this baby will be well-dressed from day one.

What else have I done for the nesting instinct? I had Tim bring the rocking chair to our room about a month ago. And I have been thinking for about two weeks now that we should put the changing table together. Every day ends with the same thought, "Maybe tomorrow."

As each day passes and we get closer to having this baby, I cut the nesting to-do list down. I figure...what does a newborn really need? Clothes. Diapers. Food (that's me). A place to sleep. Ok ~ we still need to do something about that last one. I wonder if the baby furniture fairy is planning to stop by my house and get that taken care of for me?!

Sweet Sleep

Sleep as has been an elusive thing for me for quite some time now. It's hard to sleep when you are nauseous and vomiting all the time. And now I am to the point where my ribs hurt and ligaments are stretching ~ everything is so uncomfortable. So sleep has not been my friend. I usually wake up every single hour through the night. It's hard to feel rested when you can't sleep for more than an hour at a time.

But last night something happened. I slept for 4 1/2 hours straight (before having one of those middle of the night bathroom calls) followed by 2 hours of sleep. It was heavenly! I woke up this morning feeling so much more rested than usual and even a little less nauseous. I'll take what I can get!

So I am gonna do something really wild this morning...I'm heading to Hobby Lobby!

By the way, did you notice we are down to "less than 2 months" on the countdown? Wahoo!!!

An all time low

I hit an all time low with this pregnancy today:

My 5-year-old daughter was comforting me by rubbing my back while I threw up in the toilet. Somehow I have managed to not get sick in front of her until today. She just kept saying, "It's ok Mommy." Then at dinner time she told her Daddy, "I want this baby to be born now because I am tired of Mommy being sick."

Bless her heart. I want my daughter to play dress up and dolls and do other "normal" things for a 5-year-old...not watch her Mommy get sick and act like the caretaker.

I was excited to get below 90 days in this pregnancy, but today 82 days seems like a lifetime. I feel like I can't take another day. But just like my sweet daughter said tonight, "Maybe if you get a good night sleep you will feel better tomorrow." That's all I can hope for.

The Baby Shower A.K.A. The Surreal Life

Over the weekend a small group of friends hosted a double baby shower for me and another expecting friend. It was a wonderful time! They had a delicious lunch and gave us pedicures with foot massages. We also got "tattoos" and had fun opening baby gifts.

This baby shower was such an encouragement to me. I enjoyed hanging out with old friends, being pampered and celebrating upcoming baby.

When I got home, I thought: "Where am I gonna put all this baby stuff?" We don't have a nursery yet, and it just felt so surreal to have diapers and other baby things in the house again. It's exciting...but surreal. I find myself thinking: "Is this really happening?"

I am so grateful for these friends who took the time to celebrate our pregnancies and pamper us. It was one of the best days I have had this whole pregnancy.

Updated to include:
I failed to mention that this was every bit as much Emma's shower as it was mine. She loved opening gifts, getting tattoos and having her toenails painted for the second time ever!

Applause is appreciated

It is official...I am now in the third trimester!!! Please feel free to stand up and clap at any time during the reading of this post. You can even cheer if you want to. That's what I did ~ on the inside ~ as I sucked down my protein shake.

I've only made it this far by relying on God's daily provision of strength and encouragement, which often comes through my husband, daughter, family, friends, blog comments and lots of cards. And for that I am applauding each one of you who has stuck by me through the first two-thirds of this difficult pregnancy. Take a bow.

Today the future seems a little brighter as I narrow the count to less than 90 days.

Another happy pregnant girl

When I got pregnant, I knew 13 girls who were also pregnant. All but one of them felt good and were enjoying being pregnant. Of course I wouldn't wish hyperemesis on anyone (the morning sickness I deal with), but it was frustrating to not be among the happy pregnant girls.

I just read that Beth Moore's daughter is pregnant. She didn't mention morning sickness...just her excitement at having another baby. I'm truly happy for her. It just struck me at how different my pregnancy is from most others. While most expecting mommies share their excitement about carrying a new life, I mumble about how much I hate pregnancy. And hate is not a word I use often or lightly. But I truly hate the state I am in.

Keeping my eye on the end goal is difficult at times, but I know one day I will be so grateful for all this. Not the experience of pregnancy...but the end result. A new baby...flesh of my flesh and bone of my bone. 92 days ~ give or take ~ to go.
